CMN Spotlight
In the spirit of the holiday season, CMN has made a donation of $5000 (KYD) to the Cayman Islands Cancer Society. The Society had it’s beginnings back in 1982 when Mrs. Hilma McField (a cancer patient) formed “Women Helping Women”. In 1986, Alister (Alex) Alexander (another cancer patient) was interested in forming a cancer support group. He approached Mrs. McField and they agreed to merge the two groups. In March 1988, they officially became the Cayman Islands Cancer Society, a voluntary organization established to help cancer patients and their families/supporters. The Society has come a long way since its early beginnings and as the need for cancer information and support services increases, so does the need to continue and expand their efforts to better serve the community. Coordinated efforts over the years have resulted in tremendous support to the medical community, government leaders and the public. Since beginning their education campaigns and information service, the society continually receive requests for programmes, cancer information and research. In addition, by adding Internet research, they now receive requests for research information by physicians and other medical personnel. This has increased the ability to provide the latest information on a wide range of topics. The society is continually updating their audio and video library and it has been a tremendous help to patients, families, cancer programmes and schools. Visit www.caymanislandscancersociety.org.ky for more information.
CMN was pleased to participate in the Salvation Army Elf Tree Program again this season. This program invites employees to donate a new, unwrapped toy for children of various ages. This year, CMN was able to help share the joy of Christmas with approximately 70 children in need, whom without CMN’s generous support might not have had a present under their Christmas tree. Congratulations and thank you to our staff members for their support of a worthy cause. |
