CMN Inc. was founded in 1996, but for such a young company, we have a wealth of combined experience totaling almost a century in destination medicine and international insurance. This experience is illustrated in the profiles of the CMN Operations Leadership Team below:

John Park - Founder
In life's circuitous manner, with a commerce degree, John began as a national wrestler, national wrestling coach then landed into destination medicine. Discovering a need for both patients and insurance companies to provide excellent healthcare while managing care and costs, John founded CMN in 1996.

He believes that for a business to be successful it has to bring true value to its clients. This is reflected in CMN's approach to each patient's overall well being and by working individually with each client to best determine its needs and ways to improve their service relationships.

CMN's strength lays in its quality staff whose goal it is to make a difference to our clients on a daily basis.

Alex Kroon - President and Chief Executive Officer
Alex joined CMN as COO in April 2005, and has led a significant expansion and improvement initiative, and was promoted to President and CEO in 2007. His background is in senior leadership roles, in both entrepreneurial and corporate environments. This includes being on the leadership team of two startup companies that enjoyed significant growth, and running Operations for the Canadian division of a global company. Prior experience includes time in the technology, telecom and consulting sectors where Alex opened and operated large call centers, launched new companies and assisted companies to improve the effectiveness of their people, processes and technology. Alex holds a degree in Engineering Physics from Queens University.

Peter Lozier - Executive Vice President, Sales, Marketing & Provider Relations
Peter Lozier has been in the healthcare cost containment industry for most of his professional life. A graduate of the University of Guelph with a Kinesiology degree, he began his career in the insurance industry at the medical assistance level advancing to claims management, provider relations, and finally on to business development. As a member of the Insurance Institute of America, Peter brings a well-rounded knowledge base including the medical, insurance and cost containment. "I love the job we do here at CMN. We help people get the healthcare they need and in a cost effective manner."

Derrick Davidson - Vice President, Operations
Derrick has over 20 years of experience within the Canadian and International Life and Health Insurance industry.  Derrick holds a degree in Economics from the University of Manitoba and has held leadership positions in Life and Disability Claims, Inforce Administration, Market Conduct and Compliance, and Internal Audit.  This background, coupled with experience in project management, mergers and acquisitions, serves him well in his role as Vice Presdient, Operations with CMN.  In the past, he was directly responsible for blocks of business in the Caribbean and understands the dynamics of that marketplace, a key strength given CMN’s presence in that market.

Ray Fernandes, C.A. (Canada), A.C.C.A. (UK) - Vice President, Finance
Ray joined CMN in January 2007 and brings to CMN a very strong and varied financial background. Ray grew up in Guyana, South America where he graduated from high school before immigrating to Barbados. He majored in accounting and obtained the A.C.C.A (UK) designation and managed a varied portfolio of accounts including general and life insurance, retail, public utilities, and manufacturing. Ray met and married his wife, Jackie, in Barbados and shortly afterward they moved to Canada. Ray joined a Toronto based C.A. firm and secured the Canadian C.A. designation and was the senior manager of various significant audits, including major department store and pharmaceutical chains, real estate development, leasing, and manufacturing. Ray also headed up acquisitions, investigations, and divestitures, and conducted staff training seminars. After leaving public accounting practice, he joined an entrepreneurial US based group, where as the C.F.O., he managed the financial affairs and systems developments of several manufacturing companies in Canada and the USA. Ray was the founder president of a charitable organization, has coached youth soccer, and conducts fund raisers for a seniors’ community center.  He enjoys gardening, fishing, music and travel.

Lisa Cook, CHRP - Director, Human Resources
Lisa joined the CMN Leadership Team in January 2007.  After graduating from Queen’s University with an Honors BA in Communications, she completed her Post Graduate Diploma in Human Resource Management at Seneca College.  With 10 years of Human Resources experience with a large automotive manufacturer, Lisa brings a strong Organizational Development and Employee Relations background to CMN.  “I am thrilled to be part of a rapidly growing organization that continues to maintain its founding principles and core values.”

Mahmoud Ramadan - Director, Claims and Repricing
Mahmoud’s career consists of over 8 years of outstanding performance in a multi-cultural international insurance company in Dubai as the assistant manager of group health claims. He handled various medical insurance and life coverage cases, including case management, cost containment, processing the claims as well as PPO services. He has experience on an international level with claims including the US and Canada. Mahmoud also has strong skills in project coordination which were instrumental in coordinating the installation and implementation of 2 computerized insurance systems for his office in Dubai that assisted in automating the claims process and transmission of claims via EDI. This experience is based on a solid formal education consisting of a Bachelor in Medical Science and Nursing from the University of Jordan, and a Masters of Business Administration (MBA) from the University of Wollongong – Australia. Mahmoud also has an Associate in Life and Health Claims from ICA, and an Associate in Customer Service from LOMA.

Manminder (Manny) Kandola - Director, Technology
Manny joins CMN with over 5 years of spearheading the internet technology architecture and development for one of the municipal school boards in the Greater Toronto Area, enhancing the mission, vision and core functions of K-12 education. He was also a director of eBusiness solutions and principal of a progressive internet marketing and information technology consulting corporation since 1999.

Manny's professional research interests are in business intelligence technologies and knowledge management and he has written many articles on these topics for leading IT magazines. He is also active in the community as the founder of a non-profit organization and a council board member of the College of Medical Laboratory Technologists of Ontario.

Manny is a graduate with honors in Computer Science Technology from Sheridan College. He completed a post-graduate Information Systems Management program, with honors at University of Toronto where he became an Oracle Certified Professional in Internet Development Technologies. He also holds two Governors Commendations for Academic Achievements.

Tarra Mont-Colgan - Director, Case Management
Prior to joining CMN, Tarra led clinical quality and risk management at a leading children’s hospital in Minnesota, USA.  For ten years, Tarra was the Director of Quality/Risk Management & Accreditation for a health sciences corporation in New Brunswick, Canada where she directed the regional amalgamation of seven hospitals, and was also the Director, Education and QA at another Canadian hospital. In addition, Tarra has also been involved in case management reviews in the U.S. Her incident reporting/risk management experience allows her to coordinate detailed medical reviews and work through insurance/legal issues for a variety of complex cases.

Tarra possesses an undergraduate degree in medical ethics, and a Masters of Science degree in Health Administration and Education and has completed nursing courses and numerous clinical and management certifications. Currently, Tarra manages this clinical team as the senior manager for our case management department (the largest in the company).

Dr. Kim Panovka - Medical Director
Dr. Panovka brings to CMN several years experience as a General Manager/Medical Director for a major international assistance company in Africa. She is skilled as a Medical consultant in the health insurance industry with a specific focus on US medical cases. Dr Panovka practiced as a Senior Medical Officer, full time in the trauma and intensive care units.

Her extensive US and international experience in trauma and emergency medicine adds a wealth of medical expertise to CMN.

Rosanna Borgh - Director, Quality Assurance
Rosanna has been with CMN since its formation.  She contributed to the growth and success of CMN by developing, implementing and operating company-wide business processes for the Founder which enabled CMN to thrive and to be strategically positioned in the international cost containment market. 

Rosanna has a wealth of experience in the insurance industry including US healthcare claims.  Prior to assuming her current role, she held the position of Manager of Claims with CMN, leading with a philosophy that fostered ownership, quality processing and customer service excellence. Rosanna’s analysis and creation of workflow structures lead the adoption of EDI technology in daily processing of US medical claims.

Rosanna’s commitment and passion to Quality Assurance will ensure Quality, Customer Service and Risk Management as CMN continues its rapid growth

Melody Prusky - Manager, Finance and Administration
Melody has over two decades of experience in the banking sector and in corporate accounting. She joined CMN in 1999 as bookkeeper, moving onto the position of controller,and recently promoted to manager of finance and administration.
